What to Do If You Become Involved in a Criminal Investigation?

If you have been arrested, indicted or informed that you are or may be a target of a criminal investigation, contact competent counsel immediately.  EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE COMPLETELY INNOCENT OF ANY CHARGES, DO NOT discuss your case with law enforcement authorities.  DO NOT talk about your case with colleagues or other non-lawyers.  With rare exception, any communication with anyone but your attorney becomes discoverable and anything you say can and will be used against you.
